Wholly Guacamole

This is a true Tex-Mex recipe concocted by a distant relative stationed at the Alamo nearly 160 years ago. According to family lore, he was out looking for some good tomatoes when Santa Ana attacked the now famous Texas landmark. Luckily, our relative kept this recipe in the lining of his coon-skin cap, and both he and his avocado dip lived to fight another day. Years later, near death from an infected Chihuahua bite, he looked deep into his son's eyes, and with his last breath, uttered the familiar phrase "Remember... the...guacamole."

  1. VERY GOOD we loved it. When I have leftover Guacamole I put one of the pits in the center of the dip and it stays fresh longer.

  2. I have made this version for years. It is fantastic. I always use white onion and a touch of Mexican oregano. Guacamole should be chunky.

  3. I don't know if I enjoyed the quacamole or the intro to this recipe the most. Both are great!

  4. You are sooo good Mark. Loved everything about it. I used cilantro. I also put the avocado pit in the bowl to keep it from turning brown...works everytime. Thanks for another good recipe ;)

  5. We were going to a poolside BBQ and I had picked up some store bought guacamole to go with our fajitas. My husband stared at it in horror and anounced "You can't take that!" "These are native Floridians honey, they don't even know what guacamole is," I replied. Well the guacamole purist had his way and we made homemade guacamole, using this recipe. It was great guacamole and everyone loved it! I would recommend this recipe to anyone who likes avocados, it is perfect for the afficiando and beginner taste buds.
